First popularized by stories among Royal Air Force pilots during World War II (as explanations for accidents occuring during flights), gremlins are fairy creatures known for their mechanical prowess and habit of wreaking havoc on machines, particularly aircraft. According to author Roald Dahl, a male gremlin is known as a "widget" while a female is called a "fifinella". Gremlins were, naturally, often adopted by air force squadrons as mascots.

A Disney animated film about these creatures was planned in the early 40's, but ended up cancelled, though the story was published in comic form.

One monster archetype I've always loved is the "scrawny scuzzy little rat-thing" type, you know the tiny ones that tend to gang up on you in huge droves and are usually the cannon fodder mooks of the Big Bad's army and are usually adorable in an ugly offbeat way.' I hope I captured that with these guys. X3

Since these guys were designed to be silly and humorous from the beginning, I figured I could go all out and make them SUPER cartoony looking. XD I kinda based their designs on a mix of Chuumon, a Miniblin and a Blue Meanie, lol.

plus I think the green one stole America's jacket, too. X3
