This is "Kokana" (about 1/3 of the way down that page) and its two known evolutions, which most likely ended up getting replaced by the Weedle family in the final game.

Maybe it's just me, but with the handlebar moustache, boxing gloves and what looks, to me, like a fancy shirt collar... don't they totally have a "Victorian-era gentleman boxer" vibe to them? XD That's what I went with in my versions, because that's seriously one of the most awesome things you could base a Pokemon on.

Seeing these guys drawn in full really makes me wish these guys could've made it into the final game. Would've have definitely been some of my favourite gen 1 monsters.

I guess they were kind of revived as Kricketot and Kricketune providing us with the big nosed moustachioed bug niche, but still....

I say, jolly good!

The look of the first form even reminds me of the shapeless infant clothes you see in a lot of old-timey cartoons... Swee'pea from Popeye comes to mind especially.
